SUZIETTE UKEY-AGAZIE SPEAKS ON MENOPAUSE AND PREGNANCY.
At the age of 40, age starts telling on our body and a lot of hormonal changes happen. This increases the risks of complications in pregnancy and delivery hence when older and pregnant, it is termed high risk.
One of these changes happens to our ovaries as they gradually begin to make less estrogen. It usually starts in a woman’s 40s, but has been known to start in some women’s 30s and even earlier.
Once a woman has gone a year without seeing her period, she has reached menopause. However, pregnancy is still possible during perimenopause until postmenopausal stage.

Perimenopause is the transition period before menopause, where the female body begins to make changes in preparation for menopause. These are the symptoms to look out for if you are experiencing perimenopause;
- Hot flashes – if it’s cold and you are sweating…you are perimenopausal
- Breast tenderness – periods and pregnancy too can cause this lol
- Worse premenstrual syndrome – ok
- Lower sex drive – ok
- Fatigue – our toddlers and an unbearable boss can cause this too
- Irregular periods – except you are born with this…a good sign
- Vaginal dryness; discomfort during sex – STD’s too can cause this so be sure
- Urine leakage when coughing or sneezing – ok this is confirmed
- Urinary urgency (an urgent need to urinate more frequently) – having a baby too can cause this
- Mood swings – if you are Cancerian like me, you will have this on a reg lol
- Trouble sleeping – except it is your toddler ensuring you are not sleeping lol
Even though we start experiencing hot flashes and irregular periods, ovulation can still occur during perimenopause. If an egg is released and fertilized, conception can take place.

So if perimenopausal you can look out for your usual ovulation signs like breast tenderness, vaginal discharge or use an ovulation test strips to predict when you are ovulating and get night sexy lingerie on to ensure you get some and get knocked lol.
To increase your chances of conceiving during perimenopause, consult your doctor so you are advised on the steps to take.
You can also boost your chances of getting pregnant by doing the following:
- Paying attention to your ovulation: Knowing your signs and symptoms can help you understand when you are ovulating and the best time to try
- Pay attention to your lifestyle be on the right diet and exercise at least 30minutes a day: A rich, well-balanced, nutritious diet and enough exercise will keep you fit and healthy, this helps to increase your chances of conception
- Reduce caffeine and alcohol intake: This also tallies with having a balanced diet as alcohol and caffeine can affect your hormones and ability to get pregnant
Medically, you can consider the following even during post-menopausal:
- In vitro fertilization (IVF)
- Menopause Reversal
- Hormone therapy
And if it doesn’t work, don’t spend all your savings to keep trying instead, embrace adoption as it is known to bless families.
Please read our upcoming #womancrushwednesday let’s celebrate the older Moms in our lives.

4 WAYS DO IT YOURSELF ENTREPRENEURS CAN (AND SHOULD) KEEP THINGS SIMPLE
The world of entrepreneurship can seem extremely complex. After all, entrepreneurs have a lot of different responsibilities on their plates. From developing products and services to managing contractors and marketing campaigns, the to-do list can seem never-ending.
Despite this, the oft-quoted cliche, “Keep it simple, stupid,” still has great meaning for entrepreneurs — especially those who bring a do-it-yourself attitude to their work. By streamlining your focus and keeping things simple, you will avoid getting stressed out and burned out. Here's a guide for tapping into your inner DIY entrepreneur.
One of the most common mistakes new entrepreneurs make is trying to be all things to all people. They want to provide an incredibly wide range of products and services in an effort to draw in a huge audience from their target industry. The problem is that this usually results in doing a mediocre job in a lot of areas, rather than doing one thing really well.
This is perfectly illustrated in a case study from George Deeb, managing partner at Red Rocket Ventures. As he notes in an article on this site, the difference between a failed and successful pitch was having a single area of focus. The company that was successful had a clear vision: being an e-commerce seller of restaurant furniture. The company that was rejected had five different areas they wanted to focus on, including ad sales, e-commerce and artificial intelligence.
Having so many diverging services requires several distinct business strategies. It’s a sure way to spread your resources too thin. Focusing on a single core competency will allow you to innovate and specialize so you can offer something better than the competition.
2. Automate whenever possible
You only have so many hours in a day. Which entrepreneurial tasks are most deserving of your time? You don’t want to waste precious hours digging through analytics data or doing mundane tasks that take your focus away from the activities that will help you better appeal to your target audience.
Automation tools can help entrepreneurs better use their time and even take over for tasks that might otherwise be too complex to figure out on their own. For example, one tool that I’ve seen work for many entrepreneurs who sell digital products is Kajabi, an all-in-one solution that streamlines website design, marketing campaign launches and more.
In a case study found on the company’s website, motivational speaker Chalene Johnson created a 30-day push challenge, providing a series of videos to help students with goal-setting. The Kajabi system automatically delivered the sequence of videos to students, regardless of when they signed up, allowing Johnson to put more focus on creating quality video content. The resulting campaign inspired more than 75,000 people join and ultimately became a successful list-building tool that she used again for the next five years.
3. Make things easy for your target audience
In a guest blog for Virgin, Charlie Marshall, founder of Loaf, explains that his company uses what they call “the Mum test: Is the website so simple that even my mum can use it? Would this newsletter make her smile? Would she get what we’re trying to say? If functionality is intuitive for the non-tech savvy, the likelihood is that the majority of customers will have an enjoyable and easy experience.”
Lead generation is just one area where the value of simplicity becomes readily apparent. Many landing pages will feature a form asking customers to submit information to sign up for a newsletter, schedule a call and so on. While gathering information is an essential part of the sales process, asking for too much data can easily cause customers to give up on filling out the form entirely.
According to Dan Shewan of WordStream, landing page form-conversion rates experience a sharp drop-off when they include more than seven fields. Only asking for the information you absolutely need simplifies the process for your audience and will improve conversion rates. This same principle applies to online checkout and other customer-facing areas — the fewer steps your target audience has to go through, the more likely they are to convert.
You may be able to handle the bulk of the work now, while your company is still relatively small. But what happens when you start to grow? The more hats you take on as your business expands, the harder it is to excel in all areas. You’ll end up with less and time and energy for the things that matter most. You may even lose passion for your startup as your work-life balance starts to slip away. This is where having a plan makes all the difference.
Will you hire full-time employees? Bring in a partner? Outsource? Working with a co-founder can be a great way to spread the load so that you can both specialize in your areas of expertise and avoid burnout. According to data from SmallBizTrends, startups with two founders enjoy three times the user growth of single-founder businesses. They are also 19 percent less likely to fall victim to premature scaling, which is a common contributor to startup failure.

Simplicity should ultimately become a way of being for your business. By taking steps to streamline your internal operations and make things easier for your customers, you will be able to enhance productivity and do a better job of reaching your target audience than ever before.

HOW TO STOP SELF SABOTAGE
A Repeated Cycle of Self-Sabotage.
Have you ever wanted something so badly, for so long, trying so hard to get it, but failing miserably?Have you ever set goals and objectives that you didn’t reach? Or have you ever wondered why you keep repeating the same patterns of behavior over and over again and therefore keep getting the same pitiful results? All of us at one point or another go through these phases. In fact, many of us go through our standard self-sabotage cycles like clockwork each day, and as a result, we rarely live up to our full potential. We regret the things we didn’t do, yet wonder why we keep getting stuck indulging in these limiting patterns of behavior.
WHAT EXACTLY IS SELF SABOTAGE
Self-sabotage is any behavior, thought, emotion or action that holds you back from getting what you consciously want. Moreover, it’s the conflict that exists between conscious desires and unconscious wants that manifest in self-sabotage patterns. It not only prevents you from reaching your goals but also plays the part of a safety mechanism that protects you against disappointment . What this essentially means is that your brain is protecting you from getting hurt by doing what it thinks is best — which is to keep you feeling comfortable
REASONS FOR SELF SABOTAGE
Self-sabotage tends to linger in our lives because of a lack of self-esteem , self-worth , self-confidence, andself-belief . Likewise, we suffer from self-sabotage patterns because we are unable to manage our emotions effectively. We tend to react to events, circumstances and people in ways that hinder our progress and prevent us from reaching our goals and objectives.
Self-sabotage is also used as a method for coping with difficult situations or high expectations (of ourselves or others) that we unconsciously feel we are not capable of reaching. No matter what our reasons for self-sabotage, it is clear that if we don’t do something about it, that we will continue to live a life full of regrets and unfulfilled expectations.
TYPES OF SELF SABOTAGE
Self-sabotage can come in many forms and often manifests in our lives in various ways. Here is a list of methods we often use to sabotage our own path to success:
Fear of failure .
Fear of taking risks .
Fear of making mistakes .
Inability to listen to instructions carefully.
Inability to plan ahead .
Inability to SAY NO to others.
Inability to consider the consequences of our actions.
Inability to think carefully before making decisions .
Inability to think critically or practically.
Inability to think flexibly about problems.
Inability to admit mistakes or errors.
Worrying constantly .
Having unrealistic expectations .
Critically judging ourselves or others.
Constantly comparing yourself to others.
Always complaining about people, life, circumstances or perceived bad luck .
The habit of procrastination .
The habit of perfectionism .
Accepting people’s advice without question.
Limiting beliefs, emotions and attitudes .
Unhelpful thoughts focused on what’s not working or on wishful daydreams.
When it comes to our limiting thoughts, we must pay close attention to the excuses we tend to make that prevent us from moving forward. Here are some examples:
This won’t work…
I can’t do this…
I’m too busy right now…
I’m just not ready yet….....
